The King’s Speech

Holy crap. Yes, 9 months of waiting (although back then I didn’t know it would be such a big deal). One month of checking out the theaters around me. I FINALLY SAW THE KING’S SPEECH. Oh my Colin freaking Firth. You are the best of the best. Geoffrey Rush. Sorry I only knew from Captain Barbossa but thank you for being in this movie you were splendid! Helena Bonham Carter. I only know you playing eccentric roles I did not know how adorable you were.

AND there were Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth Benett from Pride and Prejudice) and David Bamber (Mr. Collins from P&P) — wow there was a festivity going on in my head. P&P REUNION BABY.

Might contain spoilers, so I might as well hide the rest ;)

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.
Love Actually, Prime Minister.

TWO WEEKS NOTICE. This is the very first Hugh Grant movie I saw and I immediately fell in love with Hugh! Also Sandra has been my favorite actress since then (I might have watched Speed before this, but she is way more adorable in this movie).

Friends girls love Hugh Grant?

So I was watching Friends Season 1 Episode 19 and right after they came back from the movie (total chick flick, according to Chandler) there was this conversation:

Joey: Hey I don’t need violence to enjoy a movie. Just so long as there’s a little nudity.

Monica: There was nudity!

Joey: I meant female nudity. I don’t need to see Luke Grant floor licking.

Monica & Phoebe: Hugh! Hugh Grant!

I wonder which movie they watched?

I have seen 8 Colin Firth movies (including Disney’s A Christmas Carol). I have seen 6 Ewan McGregor movies (3 of them were Star Wars). I have seen 7 Hugh Grant movies. Just saying. Kinda feel like I needa see more.

Notting Hill

I finally watched Notting Hill!! Wow. Hugh Grant. He’s good. He might not be an all-round actor (as he himself admitted) but he’s good in romantic comedies. He is really really good. I liked his role in this movie better than the ones in Bridget Jones or Love Actually, Two Weeks Notice was damn good too though.

Julia Roberts. I love her beautiful smile. It’d be tricky to act a role of an actress but she was fabulous.

At first I thought it was too unrealistic but in the end I didn’t care. The conference scene! Ahhh. I repeated that scene over and over again.

Spike, William’s flatmate was so disgusting… But I guess he turned out to be a nice man in the end. lol.

I was also happy that Ronan Keating’s “When You Say Nothing At All” was used more than once in the movie.
