The King’s Speech

Holy crap. Yes, 9 months of waiting (although back then I didn’t know it would be such a big deal). One month of checking out the theaters around me. I FINALLY SAW THE KING’S SPEECH. Oh my Colin freaking Firth. You are the best of the best. Geoffrey Rush. Sorry I only knew from Captain Barbossa but thank you for being in this movie you were splendid! Helena Bonham Carter. I only know you playing eccentric roles I did not know how adorable you were.

AND there were Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth Benett from Pride and Prejudice) and David Bamber (Mr. Collins from P&P) — wow there was a festivity going on in my head. P&P REUNION BABY.

Might contain spoilers, so I might as well hide the rest ;)

Glee 2x2

Spears-tacular was spectacular. “Britney Spears is the pop culture” — Well said Kurt, well-said. Glad to see Brittany singing and dancing a lot as well.

But I freaked out when I saw the preview of next episode — I nearly cried. :’( What?? Why???

The Mentalist

Yep another addiction… lol Rigsby is so irresistible. Cho is cute. And RigsPelt awwww <3 :)

I also enjoy the great chemistry between Jane and Lisbon. I don’t want them to get together any soon, though (same for Lightman and Foster in Lie To Me), as Jane is still a grieving widow and he still wears a ring. I do not want him to get over his wife that quickly. That would make the show a bit shallow… Maybe when they finally catch Red John and when he feels like moving on.

Who’s Red John?

So I developed a new interest in Lie To Me last week (thanks to Netflix) and I’ve already caught up on the latest episode :D (thank goodness this is only 2nd season). It has become another favorite show of mine.

I totally love Emily, Dr. Lightman’s daughter. She is so cute! Loker is sometimes ass but he is cool too. Cal Lightman is awesome, needless to say. I think my favorite ships are Lightman/Foster and Loker/Torres.

I was feeling empathy for Cal every time people call it pseudo-science and so on. And his passion toward the “truth”… You know, all these science + crime shows (well Lie To Me, Bones, and Numb3rs), they really motivate me. Although I don’t think I will ever do a forensic job (there is something called forensic linguistics and some school has a program for that), I also want to be an expert in my field and to pursue my interests and it would be cool if that would contribute to the society and help people.

Karate Kid

I went to see Karate Kid today. Actually we just went to see a movie, then we saw Karate Kid, and we decided to watch it.

Someone told me that it was not really a “Karate” Kid, and more like a “Kung Fu” Kid, and at first I thought maybe they just didn’t care. But then in the movie they explicitly said it was Kung Fu, and I was wondering why they named it “Karate Kid”. One of my roommates told me it’s because it was a remake of an original “Karate Kid” and I thought it made sense.

Anyhow, the movie was pretty good! Although I’m Asian, I have never been to mainland China, so I don’t know if it was stereotyped or what Chinese people would think, but I personally loved the movie.

Jaden Smith was adorable!! His acting was not something like Haley Joel Osment or Dakota Fanning, but he did a good job. And the way Dre (Jaden Smith’s role) was trying really hard… Everyone was cheering for him in the end, inside and outside the movie, from children to adults. A small girl sitting next to me was cheering for him saying “Go Xiao-Dre!”. Every time he was in danger, she was saying “Oh my god!!” lol. And everyone sends him applause when he did something amazing (this is why I love watching movies in the States).

Also, Jackie Chan - he is my favorite actor, but I have only seen him doing funny roles and I never realized he was such a good actor. When talking of Jackie Chan, people talk about his martial arts, but he was more than that. He really can act. This movie was probably nothing without Jackie Chan.

All the Kung Fu was cool too. All the small kids doing Kung Fu… The action was amazing. Sometimes a bit painful to see a little kid beating each other, but I am glad they used kids, because they were all innocent and adorable.

Just finished watching Pride and Prejudice (1995) ^_^

I like the eldest sisters of Bennets… They are so pretty. Needless to say, Mr. Darcy ♥

I still prefer Bridget Jones though :P

But it was interesting to see the British society back in 18th century… :) Yes people still seek to marry someone they like, but income was such a big deal when picking a spouse? Well, I guess it’s still important nowadays… But it was still so different! Very interesting ^_^

Love Happens

I watched this movie because it looked like a good chick flick and it featured Jennifer Aniston, my favorite actress.

It was totally different from what I expected. In a good way :) I didn’t think I would cry. I didn’t think I would love this movie this much! (although I do not think this will be one of those movies I watch over and over again)

Yes it was a romantic movie, but it was more than that. It was how a person would face a loss of his beloved one. And it was not only about the main character, Burke Ryan - it was also about his father-in-low and one of his audience, Walter. It was very touching.

Jennifer Aniston was so pretty. Kinda hard to believe she’s already over 40. I loved her fashion in this movie too!

Aaron Eckhart. He is cute, he can act. But somehow I couldn’t get rid of his image in The Dark Knight as Harvey Dent…. Because he was such a strong figure in that movie. For those who watched The Dark Knight, you would know :/

Overall, I loved the movie!

Btw, I think they should have chosen different title for the movie and also the ad is kinda misleading… lol

Have you ever seen the movie Rain Man?

You really should. I cried so hard in the end.

I was watching Shrek and then at the end credit they played this song and I thought “Wait this really sounds like Aaron Carter”. But I was a big fan of Aaron around that time (I had his albums and stuff) and I would have known if he had released the song…. So I thought maybe some young pop star was singing but when I looked up the song on internet it was “Like Wow” from Leslie Carter! lol Haha… Carters do sound so similar :D

I Love You, Phillip Morris

I thought it was a gay movie… But it was not really. It’s a movie about love and they just happened to be gay! It is also a movie about a con man. A very smart con man. It was unbelievable and surreal. It is almost too hard to believe it’s a true story.

Jim Carrey has got old! I prefer his act in his other movies, but it feels like nobody else could have done this role.

Also, Ewan McGregor. He sure can act anything. lol It almost feels like it’s not the same person who acted Obi-Wan in Star Wars, Christian in Moulin Rouge, Catcher in Down With Love, or Renton in Trainspotting. I mean, I know he is almost 40 years old, but man… He is sooo adorable!! He knows how to act cute and innocent!! lol

Oh and I didn’t expect I would see Rodrigo Santoro! Among his movies I only saw Love Actually, but he’s a good actor too.
